Our impact on the NSW South Coast
Superheroes Events Limited (SEL) is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organisation based in the Shoalhaven region of the NSW South Coast. Registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) as a Public Benevolent Institution and holding DGR1 deductible gift recipient status, every dollar donated to SEL goes toward programs that directly benefit our community.
What DGR1 status means for you
DGR1 status means donations of $2 or more to Superheroes Events Limited are tax-deductible in Australia. When you support BerryPOP, enter a raffle, or donate to the Community Care Retreat, you can claim your contribution on your tax return. SEL's ACNC registration ensures full transparency — our annual financial reports are publicly available on the ACNC Charity Register.
Programs we run locally
- BerryPOP Festival — an annual family festival in Berry, NSW, featuring Kidditch, live entertainment, market stalls, and the celebration of postcode 2535 as the Realm of the Shire of Berry Potter.
- Charity Gala Dinner — a black-tie fundraising dinner at the Shoalhaven Heads Bowling Club each November, featuring a three-course dinner, silent auction, and raffle draw. Full gala details →
- Superheroes Community Care Country Retreat — sponsors short accommodation stays for families with chronically ill children and families requiring benevolent assistance, right here on the South Coast. About the retreat →
- Shoalhaven Superheroes Awards — annual volunteer recognition awards celebrating the unsung heroes of our community. Nominate a volunteer →
- Kidditch — a SEL-invented sport and Guinness World Records category, played by local schoolchildren at the BerryPOP festival. Team Berry Public School are the inaugural Kidditch World Champions.
Where we operate
Our programs reach families and volunteers across the Shoalhaven local government area and the broader NSW South Coast — from Berry and Shoalhaven Heads south to Ulladulla, and inland to the Southern Highlands. Our Country Retreat property is located near Nowra, providing a quiet, restorative environment for families in need.
